LEOPARD ARRIVE SAFELY IN ALGERIA

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Royal Leopard are finally in Algiers, Algeria for the second leg tie of the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup against JS Kabylie.

Leopard carry a reed-thin 1-0 lead to Algeria following a Thabiso Mokenkoane first half strike in the first leg played at Mavuso Sports Centre in October.

The game is experiencing its fourth programming by the continental mother-body, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the unexpected break of the COVID-19 variant which restricted flights from Southern African Development Communities (SADC) countries, including Eswatini.

Leopard were en-route to Algeria last week to finally honour the match but were denied access to the Turkish airspace due to bad weather when they reached Cairo, Egypt.

“The team is in Algiers now and we communicated with them just now. We used the Doha route via the United Arab Emirates this time,” said Leopard Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frank Hurube when reached yesterday.

Leopard are 90 minutes away from confirming their name in the group stages of the tournament, which comes with a guaranteed USD250 000 (about E4.1 million).
Meanwhile, the Premier League of Eswatini has postponed the police side’s pending MTN Premier League match against Manzini Sea Birds which was scheduled for next Thursday at King Sobhuza II Stadium.

This is according to a correspondence released by the organisation’s Chief Operations Officer Pat Vilakati.
