Africa-Press – Eswatini. This is the story of MTN Premier League giants Royal Leopard, who are working on a partnership with Italian sports company, Macron. A source close to the police outfit revealed that the Edwin Matsebula-coached side was working on clinching a deal with Macron, a kit manufacturer of the jersey they are currently using.
“As you know that Leopard are using Macron, I am told that they are working on renewing the deal and it is in the region of close to E300 000,” the source said. Ingwe mabalabala Public Relations Officer (PRO) Frank Hurube did not hide the fact that they were working on something with the Italian sports company, but highlighted that they did not have a partnership with Macron. “We don’t have a partnership with them yet, but we are working on having them as our technical sponsor as you know that this is a big brand known globally. You will recall that we were the first team to use it in the country,” Hurube said.
He said the partnership would see them receiving playing kits, tracksuits as well as other equipment such as bags, but did not disclose the amount involved. “This brand is recognised worldwide and we have decided to return to them, but unfortunately I can’t disclose the figures involved,” he said.
Meanwhile, the national team Sihlangu once used this brand before they jumped to Umbro. Currently, MTN Premier League defending champions Green Mamba are using Macron as well as Leopard. The country’s elite referees also use it, courtesy of the Eswatini Football Association (EFA). Other well-known clubs that use Macron include Morocco’s Casablanca Waydad and Italian giants Bologna to name a few.
