This was confirmed by Zesco United technical director, Honour Janza who is also a former Mbabane Swallows coach when quizzed about the player.

“The player has been with us and we are happy with his progress as he has displayed good qualities since his arrival. He is one player we would love to have in the team, and we will soon begin talks with his parent club (Buffaloes ),” he said.

Meanwhile, Mkhonta said he was happy to be given an opportunity to try his luck at the Ndola-based side.

“I am pleased with this great opportunity and I promise to grab it with both hands since it has been my biggest dream to play in a professional league.

I am currently working hard at training with the rest of the team,” he said.

Mkhonta is set to become the first Liswati to ply his trade at the Zambian giants, which was a home to former Mbabane Swallows and Manzini Wanderers striker Kola Aladeon from Nigeria.

He has played in both Champions League and Confederation Cup for the army side and boasts of several caps with the nation’s pride.

Meanwhile, the Ndola-based side boasts a good history in the continent, having reached the 2016 CAF Champions league group stage and then reached the quarterfinals of the Confederation Cup a year later.

The team hosts its home matches at the gigantic Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
