Africa-Press – Eswatini. RICHARD E. Grant, who has a dual citizenship of Eswatini and UK, has praised King Charles III for his kindness, while paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II on the morning of her state funeral.

In a message posted to his 317 000 followers, Yahoo News has reported that the Oscar nominee thanked Charles for visiting his wife Joan Washington prior to her passing last year after a battle with lung cancer.

Grant reportedly wrote: “Will never forget the kindness of the King, who visited my wife in her final weeks empathetic, philosophical, compassionate and kind.

“My heart goes out to him for the incalculable loss of his beloved mother.”

The Liswati shared pictures of the occasion on which he met the King last year as part of the Prince’s Trust Awards.

The 65-year-old actor was also able to meet the Queen as part of his connection to the Royal Academy of Arts.

Yahoo News disclosed that Grant met his wife Joan, a voice coach, via work and the couple married in 1986, later having a daughter together.

In a touching tribute to his wife penned for the Daily Mail, Grant wrote that their relationship was ‘the ride of my lifetime’.

He added: “It’s an extraordinary phenomenon to be truly ‘seen’ and ‘known’ by another human, and in Joan, I found someone who innately did both.”

Grant was best known for his breakout role in the British comedy Withnail & I, as well as the 2018 movie Can You Ever Forgive Me? for which he received an Oscar nomination.

The star’s tribute message was one of many shared by famous faces ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday, with Victoria Beckham among those sharing their reflections on the death of the longest serving British monarch.

She said, in an Instagram post that the Queen was the ‘ultimate icon in every way and the epitome of elegance’.

Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Themba Masuku Monday joined more than 2 000 official guests, including USA President Joe Biden and other world leaders together with grieving Royals inside Westminster Abbey for the hour-long funeral service of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Masuku, who was accompanied by British High Commissioner Thandazile Mbuyisa, led the delegation which represented His Majesty King Mswati III at the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II’s as Britain and the world laid the beloved and longest-reigning monarch to rest.

The 96-year-old monarch made her final journey to and from Westminster Abbey where the Queen was married and crowned for her state funeral service.

New York Post reported that the newly crowned King Charles III and his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were among those who marched solemnly behind her coffin in a brief procession from Westminster Hall to the Abbey, where other members of the grieving Royal family had already gathered.

It was mentioned that Queen Consort Camilla Parker Bowles, the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton, Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7 and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle joined the procession when the coffin was brought into the church.
