Africa-Press – Eswatini. National First Division (NFD) rookies Lozitha Spurs have qualified for the MoMo Cup semi-finals after beating Pigg’s Peak Black Swallows 2-1 during the play-offs at Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.

Black Swallows started the game on the front foot as they threatened to score in the opening minutes but putting the opposition’s defence under pressure with their counter attacks.

Lozitha failed to contain the opposition, allowing midfielder Siboniso Siseko to put Black Swallows ahead in the ninth minute, scoring from a close range after receiving the ball unmarked inside the box. Lozitha regrouped after this goal as they also launched their own attacks but Black Swallows defended well.

It became a balanced match as the teams matched each other, making it an exciting affair.

Lozitha Spurs striker, Thandukwazi Ndwande equalised in the 32nd minute after he intercepted a back pass from a Swallows defender to beat the keeper.

The real battle was in the middle of the park where Lozitha Spurs won most of the ball.

Clear cut chances were few and far in the last 10 minutes of the first stanza as the match went break at 1-all.

The second half saw both coaches making changes and Lozitha Spurs’ Kwanele Shongwe scored a second goal in the 46th minute after he scooped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. At this stage of the match it was Lozitha Spurs who attacked with purpose.

Black Swallows were denied a goal in the 63rd minute after it was ruled offside. The Pigg’s Peak side tried to force an equaliser as they pushed numbers forward. They missed a real chance to equalise in the 68th minute after their striker found himself unmarked inside the box but his effort went over the bar with the goalkeeper at sea.

Black Swallows were let down by their poor finishing.

The match ultimately finished at 2-1 with Lozitha Spurs qualifying for the MoMo Cup semi-finals. Man of the match was Lozitha Spurs’ Banele Shongwe.
