Africa-Press – Eswatini. ‘The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential, these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.’

These were the words shared by the liSwati born opera singer, Lwazi Dlamini. Dlamini is one of the talented artists who have worked with Magdalene Minnaar, who is an alumna of the Young Artist programme at Cape Town Opera, performer, director and producer. In an interview with the publication, he shared that he has worked with Minnaar on a play dubbed ‘a bohème.’ “I was privileged to be part of the play which is an alluring hybrid, fantastical, bohemian trailer park in South Africa, with a five piece on-stage instrumental ensemble, conducted by Jeremy Silver who also plays the piano,” he said.

Excitement

Dlamini went on to share his excitement as he also worked with Lukhanyo Moyake, Zandile Mzazi ,William Berger, Ané Pretorius, Conroy Scott and Garth Delport, to mention a few.
“Working with talented people has been amazing. I have learnt a lot from them. I was also able to represent my country,” he said. It is worth noting that Dlamini will have more live performances in Cape Town. “I am looking forward to other sets as I am based in South Africa. I would also like to thank opera music lovers from Eswatini for the support they have shown, “he added. Moreover, Dlamini has also worked with Cape Town Opera, which is a company that helps enhance young artists to be ready for the professional world, providing them with more performing experience and sharpening their perfomance skills. It also provides international tours, productions, concerts as well as coaching’s.

Instruction

He has been part of Berlin Opera Academy which is the premier European opera training programme, providing practical professional instruction to emerging artists in the most operatically important city in the world. Dlamini is not the first liSwati to hoist the country’s flag in opera music. Talented Thando Zwane has taken home a number of titles including the best Audience Prize at Les Azuriales Opera International 2019 Opera Singing Competition in France. He has also graced a number of stages in Italy. Eswatini National Choral Music Association (ENCMA) Chairperson, Sihle Gumbi, said these news were great for the whole of Eswatini. “The choral music fraternity is very proud of Lwazi. Solo participants always shine and I can confidently say that as an association we are working on doing something for singers. To be hosnest, the current pandemic has affected the entertainmnet scenes but we are proud and excited to receive such positive news. This attestes to the fact that Eswatini is a home of true talent,” said Gumbi.
