Africa-Press – Eswatini. Eswatini’s rising Afro-pop voice, Histo (Majaha Ginindza), is set to release a bold and thought-provoking single titled Makoti Longeva, featuring powerhouse collaborators M Nation, Cool Drop, Young Zesh, and DJ Citie.

In a time where music often leans into trend over message, Makoti Longeva boldly breaks the mold. The track, which drops this Friday at 6 PM on all major platforms, delves into the shifting values around marriage and cultural responsibility in modern society. Inspired not by personal experiences but by the community stories and silent struggles surrounding him, Histo has crafted a narrative that feels urgent, familiar, and deeply Swati.

“I imagined a situation where a man marries a woman, thinking she will be a pillar of the home, only to find that she struggles to adjust to the family’s values… prioritizing the groove over family responsibilities,” says Histo.

The song draws from traditional African views of marriage, particularly within Eswatini culture, where a wife (makoti) is expected to embody respect, humility, and maturity. Histo speaks candidly about how modern influences have challenged these expectations, with Makoti Longeva serving as both a wake-up call and a cultural reflection.

“Marriage isn’t just about love, it’s about responsibility and discipline,” Histo adds. “This song is both a warning and a lesson to the youth.”

Produced by DJ Citie, the track blends Afro-pop with rich cultural storytelling, underpinned by a rhythm that nods to both modern taste and traditional roots. M Nation, Cool Drop, and Young Zesh each bring a unique touch, amplifying the song’s emotional weight.

From its storytelling lyrics to its carefully crafted beat, Makoti Longeva is more than a song, it’s a statement. Histo hopes it will spark dialogue, especially among the youth, about the importance of preserving family values and respect within relationships.

“To everyone who loves real music with meaning, Makoti Longeva is for you. Let’s bring back the dignity that marriage used to carry,” Histo passionately shares.

Born Majaha Ginindza in Somnjalose village, Mvutjini, Eswatini, Histo was raised by his grandparents and later by his parents and siblings. He completed his studies at Somnjalose High School and holds an Electrician Grade-3 certificate. His passion for music was ignited in a home filled with singers, often supporting his younger brother, now a well-known Swati musician Mzwandile Comfort Ginindza, popularly known as Young Zesh, at studio sessions and gigs.

“I said to myself, why don’t I start singing because I love this thing,” he recalls. That decision would launch a musical journey now driven by fan support and a growing demand for meaningful music.

With Makoti Longeva, Histo steps firmly into his purpose, creating music that speaks truth and preserves culture.
