Africa-Press – Eswatini. David Madlopha, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Mankayane Town Board allegedly received over five hundred thousand Rands(R500,000.00) corrupt monies from suppliers through his First National Bank(FNB) account.
The suppliers who allegedly deposited monies into the CEO’s bank account include Pots Construction(Pty)Ltd, a company that was awarded a tender worth over R2million to rehabilitate the Titandini Road.
Reached for comments on Saturday, the Mankayane CEO denied these allegations adding that, the tender was awarded to Pots Construction before he assumed his position as the Chief Executive Officer.
“Maybe they deposited into a wrong bank account because, the tender was awarded before I became the CEO”, he said.
But an investigation conducted by this publication uncovered that, the construction tender was awarded to Pots Construction in 2019 and this, was shortly after Madlopha took over as the Town Clerk or Chief Executive Officer.
Efforts to reach Pots Construction(Pty) Ltd Directors proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, the CEO told this publication that, a serious conflict erupted within the Mankayane Town Board Management and as a result, he was aware of the sources who might have provided the information to this journalist.
“There’s a serious conflict within the Management and I am aware who might have provided this information to you. Kodvwa-ke Nkhosi angikuvimbi kutsi wente umsebenti wakho”, he said.
