Manzini Regional Administrator Prince Chief Gija stops Masundvwini uMphakatsi from selling home belonging to orphan

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prince Chief Gija, the Manzini Regional Administrator(RA) has stopped the Masundvwini uMphakatsi from selling a home belonging to an orphan Sibonokuhle Langa.

It has been disclosed that, the orphan ran to the Office of the Manzini Regional Administrator on Thursday after Sherifs invaded his home at Sicelwini- Manzini, seeking to evict him with a questionable court order.

The home was sold by Sicelwini-Masundvwini uMphakatsi for four hundred and fifty thousand Rands(R450,000.00) after the death of Gogo Mdluli while the orphan was at school in South Africa.

Speaking on Friday morning, the orphan confirmed running to the Regional Administrator after the Sheriffs invaded his home adding that, the Regional Administrator went on to instruct a lawyer to work on the matter and verify the authenticity of the court order.

“On Thursday, Sheriffs arrived seeking to evict me from my home and I ran to the Regional Administrator uMtfwaneNkhosi who welcomed me with warm hands. He then instructed a lawyer to work on the matter and further verify if the court order was genuine and how it was issued because the matter was dealt with and concluded under Eswatini Law and Custom. There’s a ruling that was issued by Ndabazabantu and the Regional Administrator himself, directing the uMphakatsi to allow me to occupy my home and based on that ruling, I went back to stay at my home because after being evicted,I had no shelter, I was struggling. But the uMphakatsi decided to defy the order from UmtfwaneNkhosi and Ndabazabantu and produced a questionable court order.UmtfwaneNkhosi said if the uMphakatsi had a problem with the ruling, they could have approached the Ludzidzini Council. That home belonged to my grandmother Gogo Mdluli and after she died, it was inherited by me and my brother as her grandchildren, unfortunately my brother also died in a car accident in South Africa. So I was at school in South Africa doing matric and when I came back, I discovered that Steven Magongo, the uMphakatsi’s uMgijimi had sold my home for R450,000.00. I would like to thank uMntfwaneNkhosi for ensuring that I receive justice in this matter, even though I’m an orphan not connected to anyone who is powerful. When I arrived at the the Regional Administrator’s Offices yesterday(Thursday) even the staff welcomed me and I was able to see uMtfwaneNkhosi”, said the orphan.

Efforts to reach Regional Administrator Prince Chief Gija for a comment proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

Steven Magongo, the Scelwini uMphakatsi uMgijimi who allegedly sold the home belonging to the orphan urged anyone with a complaint to visit uMphakatsi.

“Anyone with a problem must come to uMphakatsi”,he said.

But documents in possession of this publication suggest that, the Masundvwini uMphakatsi is one of the most corrupt traditional institutions, evicting, grabbing and selling homes belonging to the poor and powerless.
