Africa-Press – Eswatini. Mbabane Highlanders are rocked by internal problems as four members of the management committee (MC) resigned en masee.
The resigned MC members are Chief Executive Officer, Clement Dlamini, Public Relations Officer Mandla ‘Kervin’ Madonsela and Marketing officer, Kenneth Gama.
Manager Simiso ‘Space’ Jele is also on his way out with his resignation letter already penned according to sources.
Reports suggest that the football officials took the decision to resign on Wednesday, citing unworkable conditions.
The four officials follow in the footsteps of former director Benson Dlamini who walked out at the beginning of the year with former National Supporters Committee Chairman Kenneth Dlamini and Musawenkosi Tsela. Chief Scout, Mbongeni ‘Mau’ Shongwe also left the club after less than two months at the helm.
The outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Clement Dlamini confirmed his resignation in a formal corresdence leaked to this publication.
“Please accept this resignation letter as Mbabane Highlanders chief executive officer (CEO) with immediate effect. I would like to thank you for the opportunity you have given me.
“I would also like to state that I will continue to be a supporter of this great club at all times,” reads the resignation letter.
Madonsela also confirmed that he had stepped down from his position. He said other commitments forced him to step down and that there was no bad blood between him and the club. The capital city giants will have a crisis meeting tomorrow at CODEC, Ezulwini, to be attended by the Managing Director Chief Ally Kgomongwe.
One of the main issues to be addressed is the drama that unfolded last Sunday at Mavuso Sports Centre during their MTN Premier League match against Manzini Sea Birds which they lost 1-2. This saw the club’s supporters invade the pitch after the match where they attacked match official Mbongeni Shongwe.
