Meta Introduces Expanded Monetization Features for Ghanaian Content Creators

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Meta’s Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa, Sade Dada, has officially informed Ghana’s Ministry of Information about the rollout of enhanced monetization features for content creators in the country.

Under these new features, content creators will now have the opportunity to earn a share of revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads placed alongside their content. Additionally, Meta plans to introduce ads on reels, offering creators another avenue to monetize their content on Facebook. Similar features are slated for Instagram later in the year.

To qualify for monetization, creators must comply with Meta’s stringent Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, which include specific guidelines on content standards and presentation formats beyond community standards.

Advertisers, in turn, must adhere to Meta’s advertising standards to ensure a positive user experience and foster meaningful interactions across Meta’s platforms.

This initiative aims to empower Ghanaian content creators by enabling them to generate income locally from their digital content while providing them with advanced tools to manage their online businesses. The expansion of these monetization tools marks a significant milestone that promises to bolster Ghana’s content creators’ online presence and brand-building efforts.

In response, the Ministry of Information commended Meta for its investment in Ghana’s digital landscape and expressed readiness to facilitate ongoing collaboration between Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana to explore further opportunities. The Ministry anticipates that these advancements will catalyze digital innovation, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
