Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Honourable Minister of Information, Communications and Technology of the Kingdom of Eswatini, H.E. Savannah Maziya, has highlighted Eswatini’s commitment to digital transformation during the 20th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) India–Africa Business Conclave, held from 27–29 August in New Delhi.
Accelerating Africa’s Digital Future
Under the theme “Co-Creating a Shared Future”, the Conclave brought together government leaders, business executives, policymakers, and innovators from Africa and India to discuss trade, investment, and technological collaboration. Minister Maziya participated in high-level panels exploring strategies for bridging the digital divide and building inclusive digital economies across Africa.
During her intervention, Minister Maziya showcased Eswatini’s flagship National Digitalization Program, “Government in Your Hand”, which enables citizens to access government services via mobile devices, web portals, and digital kiosks. She emphasised the people-first nature of the programme, explaining how it supports youth, enhances healthcare systems, provides data to farmers, and empowers citizens to participate fully in the digital economy.
Youth as a Driver of Transformation
Minister Maziya highlighted Africa’s youthful demographic, noting that over 60% of the continent’s population is under 25. She stressed the potential of Africa’s youth to transform ideas into enterprises and challenges into opportunities through innovation, research, and development.
Strengthening Africa–India Collaboration
The Minister called for deeper collaboration between Africa and India, focusing on trade and investment in digital industries, expanding innovation ecosystems, leveraging India’s incubators and accelerators, enhancing digital skills, and promoting joint research initiatives. She stated: “India brings experience, infrastructure, and technological know-how. Africa brings youthful energy, creativity, and untapped markets. Together, we can accelerate a digital future that uplifts millions and drives our economies forward.”
In recognition of her leadership in digital transformation, H.E. Maziya received a special recognition award at the Conclave. She concluded by urging Africa to define its own digital destiny, stating, “Africa must be the architect of her own digital future. We as Eswatini stand ready to collaborate with all African countries and our partner, India, to realise this future.”
Exploring Practical Solutions
Beyond the panel discussions, Minister Maziya engaged in a roundtable with senior Indian government officials, African ministers, and business leaders to explore scaling digital services, from financial inclusion to e-governance, through Africa–India collaboration.
The Minister thanked the Government of India and the Conclave organisers for the invitation, describing the partnership as an opportunity to co-create solutions that transform lives and unlock Africa’s potential.
