Africa-Press – Eswatini. A golden opportunity has opened for Emaswati ready to grow their businesses. The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade has officially opened applications for the Citizen Economic Empowerment Program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at transforming the lives of entrepreneurs, miners, farmers, and community-driven enterprises across Eswatini.
Backed by the Government of Eswatini in partnership with the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Government of China, and Perennial Enterprise Network (PEN), the initiative has unlocked grant funding worth US$900 million.
This significant financial package is designed to boost trade, entrepreneurship, farming, and investment while encouraging innovation and technology adoption.
According to the ministry, the program will provide hardworking Emaswati with the resources they need to expand their ventures, create jobs, and deliver lasting impact in their communities. Beneficiaries will include entrepreneurs, miners, fish farmers, non-governmental organizations, cooperatives, companies, and well-established businesses ready to scale their operations.
The objectives of the empowerment program are clear and ambitious: to promote entrepreneurship, strengthen economic recovery, and expand access to continental and global markets. It also seeks to grow the production of local goods and services, enhance access to information and communication technology, and increase funding for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
In addition, the initiative will support investment in new projects, research, and innovation, as well as improve skills and infrastructure critical for long-term development.
“This program marks a turning point in our efforts to empower citizens and build a resilient economy that works for all,” said ministry officials during the launch.
Applications are now open, and all interested individuals and organizations are urged to apply online before the deadline through the official portal at https://shorturl.at/lCFbK.
