MSF:Political activists who will join Tinkhundla Parliament and be arrested by Mswati might not get our support

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sikelela Dlamini, the Secretary General of the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF)has confirmed that political activists who will defy a resolution by the entire Mass Democratic Movement(MDM) and decide to join the Tinkhundla undemocratic elections might not get support from political parties.

On Friday,Dlamini said as the MDM,they offered support to Members of Parliament(MPs)behind the scenes during the recent calls for democracy but, they were later disappointed when one of the MPs later claimed the whole revolution was about three(3)MPs.

“Now,we have one position that we are not participating in Tinkhundla undemocratic elections.Anyone who will participate and get arrested or persecuted, that so called pro-democracy MP will be on his own.A majority of political parties resolved to boycott the elections and we would be endorsing the same Parliament if we would then support an MP who defied a resolution by the Mass Democratic Movement(MDM) and participated in the Tinkhundla elections,”said the MultiStakeholder Forum(MSF)Secretary General.

An influential political leader who alerted this journalist about the decision not to support those who would participate in the Tinkhundla elections said they learnt a lesson by supporting the three(3)MPs,one of whom later unleashed his supporters to insult them.

“We made a huge mistake,we were spending sleepless nights preparing petitions to be delivered at the Tinkhundla Centres. If you can look at the videos and pictures of the petitions delivery you will see the flags of a political party and those flags will tell you who were actually behind the petitions. We need to be decisive here, uma umuntfu atingenelela lukhetfo timbopha Tinkhundla singayingeni ngoba babese labantfu batsi siyasebenta le-strategy sekungena ePhalamende yet bekugijima tsine lana. Ephalamende ye-Tinkhundla ungena as an individual, noma sebakubopha you must fight as an individual,”said the political leader who was very influential in drafting the petitions that were delivered at the Tinkhundla Centres.

King’s Spokesperson Percy Simelane told earlier that issues involving elections falls within the jurisdiction of the Elections and Boundaries Commission(EBC).

On another note,Sikelela Dlamini, the MSF Secretary General said there was no way the Tinkhundla MPs could have raised the issue in Parliament and then organise people outside to deliver petitions at the time same time.

“This means there were other people who were vigorously working outside. Now,they are pushing to go to Parliament hoping that once they get arrested,we will work again, unfortunately,we won’t support people who defied the MSF resolutions,” he said.
