Africa-Press – Eswatini. It will be almost two weeks of no football for fans after the Premier League of Eswatini announced the postponement of the MTN Premier League games.
The next matches were scheduled for today until Friday.
This development comes after a meeting between football stakeholders at Sigwaca House yesterday.
Hence the Premier League of Eswatini announced the updates through a statement released by Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Makhanya last night.
“Following a meeting between the Eswatini Football Association, the Referees Association and the Referees Committee today, the PLE has resolved to postpone the Premier League Week 11 and National First Division Week 8 fixtures with immediate effect to the weekend of 30 and 31 December 2022,” the statement says in a nutshell.
The statement further says, “All fixtures scheduled for Wednesday 21, Thursday 22 and Friday December 23, 2022 are hereby postponed.”
Makhanya stated that the meeting identified some deficiencies which led to the postponement of the games.
“The meeting identified some areas of deficiencies in match organisation and this postponement was necessitated by the need for the PLE and the relevant stakeholders to review their match organisation responsibilities to ensure improved performances during official matches,” he stressed.
