Africa-Press – Eswatini. Green Mamba skipper Mxolisi Mkhonto has officially completed his move to Botswana Premier League outfit Jwaneng Galaxy.

This comes after a two-week assessment. The two parties finally reached an agreement after the player’s move appeared to have hit a stumbling block in the past week.

However, the latest news is that the player put pen to paper yesterday and signed a two-year contract after undergoing medicals.

Unconfirmed reports revealed that Galaxy had initially offered to pay E80 000 loan fee, which was rejected by the Correctional Services side.

Agreed

Green Mamba wanted E200 000 for the player.

A source close to the matter said the teams eventually agreed on a fee that had been kept confidential between the two parties.

“It is now a done deal but you can talk to Green Mamba for a proper comment.

“All I know is that the player has joined Jwaneng Galaxy,” said the source.

Green Mamba Chief Executive Mandla Sibiya also confirmed the latest developments.

“Yes, it is true. Our negotiations with Jwaneng were fruitful and they have signed Mxolisi Mkhonto. We wish the player the best of luck and hope he will represent us well,” he said.

Jwaneng Galaxy is coached by South African coach Morena Ramoreboli.

The club is third on the standings with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, Mkhonto is the reigning footballer of the season.

He was once linked with a move to DStv Premiership Royal AM before the start of the season, but a transfer ban hindered the move.

Transfer

Mkhonto has become the second player to ply his trade in Botswana Premier League after Banele ’Stiga’ Ndzabandzaba.

Other international players are Justice Figuareido (Richards Bay) and Lindo Mkhonta (Zesco United).

The other players linked with moves in the January transfer window are Kwakhe Tfwala (Chippa United) and Philani Mkhonto (Black Leopards).

Former Manzini Wanderers South African import Thabiso Mokoenkane has also joined Township Rollers.
