Africa-Press – Eswatini. The composition of the new Cabinet team is rich and exhibits diverse strengths and backgrounds.
Some commentators appreciate the diverse composition. The commentators have appreciated the various backgrounds of the different ministers, as they said this would enable them to complement each other. There was appreciation of the strengths that shall be brought by those who were in the private sector, as they were more result-driven and abided to extreme timelines, which would complement those who were from government. Economist Thembinkosi Dube said: “The appointments look great to me as it has people from public office and those from the private sector, which would enable them complement each other. It would have been a challenge if it was only one sector.”
Anticipation
Dube said his anticipation was that the Cabinet would work and deliver as envisaged in the 11th Parliament, where the composition of Cabinet was similar to the current. He said what was key was also individual discipline, in terms of adhering to the collective goals that shall be set in Cabinet. Dube appreciated the continuity approach in Cabinet, as this, he said, would assist in ensuring that what was started in the previous Cabinet was achieved with minimal hindrances. Senator Tony Sibandze also said the King and his advisors had delivered an excellent team, who were needed to deal with the submissions of Sibaya. He appreciated the blend which would assure continuity and also bring speed, those who would be having their first term in Cabinet. “The DPM (Deputy Prime Minister) Thuli Dladla is also a seasoned politician, who will assist the PM in ensuring smooth delivery of the policies the country seeks to implement with speed,” Sibandze said. He said the continuity was essential for ensuring that economic recovery and other policies were implemented with speed, as the skills and competencies complemented each other.
Leadership
Sibandze said leadership did not dictate that one needed to be a specialist in the portfolio they led, as that was available to the politicians through the personnel at the ministry. He said ministers’ strengths was understanding leadership, being analytic thinkers and understanding social impacts of decisions taken. Also, Sifiso Dlamini said seeing old faces who were very industrious in the 11th Parliament was reassurance which ensured consistency. Sifiso said the new Cabinet ministers were selected to ensure a value addition to Cabinet and deliver on the issues of concerns raised by the nation at Sibaya. He said the blending of the Cabinet ministers would help team complement each other in terms of pursuits, such as the advancement of technology as well, which was poised to bring job opportunities to the country.
