NEW OFFICES AND WORKSHOPS HANDED OVER TO HEALTH MINISTRY

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Ministry of Health received keys to newly constructed offices and workshops at the old Central Medical Stores (CMS) complex. The facilities were built under the Health Systems Strengthening for Capital Human Development Project (HSSCHD), funded through a World Bank loan.

The handover was officiated by Acting Minister for Health, Appolo Maphalala, who expressed satisfaction with the development. “We owe it to ourselves to salvage our sector and take it to what or where it used to be. We are happy that everyone is working tirelessly to ensure that it happens. Let us ensure that the efficiency is recognised. It is up to us to ensure that we make Government respected,” he said.

Minister Maphalala further cautioned against corruption and poor project management, emphasising that accountability and transparency remain central to strengthening the health sector. He urged all stakeholders to serve with honesty, diligence, and a commitment to safeguarding public resources.

The new facilities are expected to improve the operations of the Biomedical and Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) units, enhancing service delivery within the Ministry. By investing in infrastructure, the project supports the broader goal of building a stronger health system capable of responding to national needs.

Across the health sector, proper infrastructure is regarded as a cornerstone for effective service delivery. Offices and workshops that are fit for purpose provide health professionals with the environment they need to function efficiently, which in turn improves the quality of care provided to communities.

The Health Systems Strengthening for Capital Human Development Project is one of several initiatives working to align Eswatini’s healthcare delivery with international standards. By modernising systems and facilities, the project contributes to long term sustainability, ensuring that investments made today continue to benefit the nation well into the future.
