Spearheaded by Zama Matsebula, the Academy aims to nurture young talent through football while addressing pressing social challenges in the community.
The grand opening event took place at the Nkoyoyo Sports Ground, where the inaugural Nkoyoyo Development League kicked off with thrilling matches featuring academy players across the under-13, under-15, and under-20 age groups. The atmosphere was electric as young athletes showcased their skills in their very first competitive fixtures, signaling the start of a promising journey.

Zama Matsebula, marketing manager of the Nkoyoyo Academy, emphasized that the initiative is about much more than just sport. “Our primary objective is to support the Nkoyoyo Mpolonjeni Community, which is currently grappling with hunger and other socio-economic challenges,” Matsebula explained. He highlighted the Academy’s commitment to collaborating with both local and international health organizations to improve community well-being.
The Academy’s mission extends to fostering holistic youth development through football. By encouraging young people to strive for a better future grounded in strong moral values, Nkoyoyo Academy seeks to build not only skilled athletes but also responsible and self-sufficient adults.

Following a successful launch, the Nkoyoyo Academy Development League is set to continue with Match Week 2 commencing on May 24, 2025. The first match of the week will kick off at 8:30 AM, promising more exciting football action and ongoing opportunities for youth engagement.
