Africa-Press – Eswatini. MBABANE Swallows’ dazzling winger Sizolwethu ‘Nunu’ Shabalala’s brilliant performance against hub giants Manzini Wanderers saw him bag E2 000 as prize money after being named Man of the match.
Shabalala helped his side triumph over Wanderers with a 3-0 scoreline, scoring his side’s second goal. He also made numerous dangerous runs on the right wing.
The player was awarded by MTN Eswatini as the Man of the match with E1 000 prize. Meanwhile, the team’s sponsor, Upper Interior, also selected him for their own award of Man of the match, which also carried another cash prize of E1 000. Both prizes then totalled E2 000.
Upper Interior are currently the sponsors of Swallows, where they award E1 000 to the best player in every game undertaken by the team.
This sponsorship will run until the end of the season.
In his own words, the man of the day said, “I can start by thanking my coach and teammates for pushing hard as this was a tricky game but we managed to come up tops.
“The win will keep us in the race of winning the league and we couldn’t afford to drop points now. Our next focus is the Ingwenyama Cup and we will prepare well for the semi-finals,” said Shabalala.
Swallows will play against arch-rivals Mbabane Highlanders in the semi-finals of the Ingwenyama Cup at Somhlolo National Stadium.
