OVERWHELMING RESPONSE FOR MR ESWATINI 2023/24

Africa-Press – Eswatini. There are 25 male candidates on the run to be Mr Eswatini 2023/2024.

This was announced by the Mr Eswatini Director, Mbonisi Ngcamphalala.

He stated that the numbers saw an increase after closing dates for the pageant competition were postponed to yesterday.

Ngcamphalala said he was happy with the current numbers, but mentioned that they had hoped for 30 candidates.

“With means to reach at least 30 candidates planned on closing entries this weekend, however we had to respect the country’s national event of the upcoming nominations,” he said.

He stated that candidates that were eligible to enter were males between the ages of 18-33 and people who were goal driven and orientated, which were seen through the sent application videos when they sent their mission statement.

“It is important that the candidates are people who want to bring about change among the youth and are able to be vocal about certain issues that concern the youth,” he said.

Ngcamphalala added that he would reveal the 25 men soon for the public to see and vote for in the voting process to follow.

Furthermore, he said there would be different activities that the contenders would be involved.

“We do not have exact dates of when Mr Eswatini 2023/24 would take place or the venue but we are anticipating that we will crown our Mr Eswatini after Miss Eswatini 2023/24 has been crowned. We ask that the public be engaged, as we go along and vote for someone who you think is a worthy participant,” requested Ngcamphalala.

In a previous interview with Eswatini National Arts and Culture Council (ENCAC) Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Dlamini, he had stated that it was important that the country had a Mr Eswatini.

Dlamini said the candidate would stand as brand for corporate institutions which were needed in disseminating male-driven agenda issues in the country, becoming an instant ambassador.

“Mr Eswatini is needed to relate both gender-related issues for non-governmental organisations (NGOs), who would want to end gender-based violence (GBV). Mr Eswatini becomes powerful in speaking for young males and males in general,” said the CEO.

He further said Mr Eswatini was also needed to lead in the aspect of cultural programmes. He said the culture in the country was gender-based and no one would allow for women to call upon males inviting them to Lusekwane.

“It is important that we have a Mr Eswatini to balance out gender programmes in the country,” he said.

The last reigning Mr Eswatini was Rodney Lansberg, who was crowned in June 2018 along with his princes, Wandile Dlamini and Wandile Zishwili.
