Africa-Press – Eswatini. Young Buffaloes’ Bongwa ‘Owa’ Matsebula and Mbabane Swallows’ Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst were crowned October and November MTN Premier League players of the month, respectively.
The players were announced during a presentation held at Sigwaca House yesterday, and each received E6 000 for their efforts. In the National First Division (NFD), Rangers’ Bongani Mvubu was the best player for November and he pocketed E2 000.
The NFD started their campaign late and have only played for one month, hence one award was handed out.
Matsebula was instrumental in Young Buffaloes’ good start in October, where he bagged four goals. Meanwhile, Badenhorst has also been impressive in front of goal, scoring four goals so far, which includes a hat-trick for the capital city giants.
Premier League of Eswatini (PLE) Football Manager Petros Vilakati thanked the sponsor for continuing to award players who excel monthly. “We would like to thank MTN for ensuring we still have the Player of the month awards, which serve as a motivation for the players.
“Well done to the players for being the first to receive this season’s awards,” he said. MTN Brand, Communications and Sponsorship Manager Landokuhle Dlamini congratulated the respective winners and urged them to continue to work hard for their teams.
“The league kicked off well and it is great to see fans back in the stadiums as it adds excitement to the matches.
“Well done to the winners and we would like to see them continue to put in the kind of performances that helped them win the awards. We expect to see more exciting football as the season continues,” she said.
