Africa-Press – Eswatini. Across Eswatini, a wave of youthful energy and faith is lighting up schools, workplaces, and communities as the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church commemorates Pathfinder Scarf Week. The celebration is building up to the eagerly anticipated World Pathfinder Day on 20 September 2025, uniting young people in service, leadership, and spiritual growth.
The Pathfinder program, designed for youth aged 10 to 16, continues to shape nearly two million members worldwide through activities such as camping, community service, vocational training, and nature studies. Guided by the Pathfinder Pledge and Law, the initiative nurtures values of kindness, truthfulness, responsibility, and devotion to God and humanity.
Siphelele Mpungose, Vice Chairperson of Pathfinders at the Eswatini Conference of the SDA Church, described the scarf as a symbol of purpose and mission.
“The Pathfinder scarf is more than a piece of cloth. It represents our identity as young Christians committed to service and moral integrity. Scarf Week reminds us that wherever we go, we carry the values of leadership, responsibility, and faith. It is also a call to inspire other young people to live with purpose and to serve both their communities and God faithfully,” he shared.
This week-long observance will culminate in World Pathfinder Day, celebrated under the theme “Pathfinders on Purpose.” The occasion will be marked with vibrant services, inspiring preaching, uplifting music, and hands-on community projects across the nation.
By proudly wearing their scarves, Pathfinders are not only celebrating their heritage but also reaffirming their role as positive role models and agents of change. The scarf stands as a banner of unity, faith, and service—an enduring reminder that young people can transform society when they live with purpose.
