Africa-Press – Eswatini. Residents across several communities will experience planned power interruptions on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, as the Eswatini Electricity Company( EEC) announced routine maintenance and network upgrades across multiple distribution lines.
The utility said the scheduled work would take place at different sites throughout the day, temporarily affecting supply in several regions while maintenance teams carry out repairs and installations.
In Elangeni, maintenance near the Guava Gallery is scheduled between 09:00 and 13:00 and will involve service construction on local distribution lines. In Piggs’ Peak, planned construction works will run from 09:00 to 16:00, affecting surrounding areas including Nginamadolo, Nsangwini and Mkhunjini. In Mankayane, a closing-span outage is expected from 10:00 to 16:00, while Hluthi will undergo routine maintenance during the same timeframe of 09:00 to 16:00.
In Big Bend, a similar outage is expected from 10:00 to 16:00. Matsapha will experience a closing-span interruption from 09:30 to 16:00, affecting mapped neighbourhoods and surrounding areas. In Malkerns, installation and project construction work will run from 09:00 to 17:00, covering nearby communities and service zones.
The maintenance work forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen and improve the national electricity network. Members of the public have been urged to treat all electricity infrastructure as live throughout the maintenance period for safety reasons.
Power supply is expected to be restored gradually once work is completed in each affected area. Households and businesses are expected to plan ahead for the interruptions and to switch off sensitive electrical appliances during the outage window to prevent possible damage when electricity is restored.
