Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Dlamini’s social media page on X (formerly Twitter) is now officially verified.
This means that the prime minister’s account is recognised as authentic and original, joining the ranks of all politicians who are on the platform.
This is a status that allows everyone engaging with the prime minister on the account to know that it is his real account, and not fake.
The premier joined the social media platform in November, soon after being appointed to the position.
He was warmly welcomed by other users who approved of his decision to engage with the public on social media. True to form, the PM has been consistent on the platform, and has shared a lot of his activities as the country’s premier.
This is especially as the previous prime ministers have shied away from social media.
Dlamini also has Instagram and Facebook accounts, although he is not verified on these platforms as yet.
A verified account is identified by a blue tick next to the holders name.
Government has had to warn the public of a fake Russell Dlamini Facebook account, urging users not to engage with the cloned account.
Authentic
Government has instead redirected users on social media to the premier’s authentic page, which has a picture of Dlamini being swon-in by Attorney General Sifiso Khumalo as its cover photo, the premier’s profile picture is his official portrait.
The authentic account can also be identified by the 20 000 followers he has and that content from that account is often reposted by the official government page.
The bogus account that has been dispelled by the government, has the prime minister siting in his office as the cover photo and the profile picture is that of Dlamini with an icon of climate action on top of his picture.
