PM VISITS 3 COMMUNITIES AROUND BIG FIVE NATIONAL PARK

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Dlamini yesterday led a team of Cabinet ministers and government officials on a tour of three communities bordering the Big Five National Park.

The head of government toured the project boundary line at Sitsatsaweni community and proceeded to Mahhuku, before stopping at Lonhlupheko. Present during the tour were Ministry of Defence Principal Secretary (PS) Prince Sicalo, Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Simelane, Minister of Public Works and Transport Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, Minister of Economic Planning and Development Dr Tambo Gina and Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg/ Also present were Lubombo Region Member of Parliament (MP) Futhie Ngcamphalala and Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs PS Khangeziwe Mabuza.

Also in attendance were KaLanga Chief Jozane Maziya, Microprojects Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sibusiso Mbingo and Royal Science and Technology Park CEO Vumile Dlamini.

Leading the tour and explaining about the boundary line of the project was PS Mabuza. The PM was also taken to the barrier line separating the project with the community of Sitsatsaweni. The PS shared to the premier that there was a farm at Mazinyane, which was currently used by the Ministry of Agriculture and they were on the verge of engaging that ministry to use the farm for the expansion of the project. The PM thanked the chief for the warm welcome and the task team for ensuring that the project progressed well. Dlamini said the tour would help the task team to compile a report that would then be presented to the King on the progress of the project.

Resourceful

“The tour has been important and resourceful for us to familiarise ourselves with what is obtaining on the ground. I am optimistic that all the challenges that have been raised will be attended to for the betterment of the work that has already commenced,” he said. Meanwhile, government approved E60 million towards the fencing project of the 120km perimeter, covering an area of 80 000 hectares of the Park. In April last year, former Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati, together with his then counterpart at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Thuli Dladla, led diplomats from various countries during a field visit at the Hlane Royal National Park and Mlawula Nature Reserve, which are part of the Big Five National Park.
