PM WELCOMES NEW PS BHEKI BHEMBE

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has welcomed new Principal Secretary (PS) Bheki Bhembe.

Although not new as a PS, Bhembe has been appointed as a new PS for the Private and Cabinet Offices (Prime Minister’s Office) on June 21, 2025 by His Majesty King Mswati III. The appointment was announced by the prime minister at the Private and Cabinet Offices in Mbabane.

According to the congratulatory message, the PM said Bhembe was welcome at the Hospital Hill (where the Private and Cabinet Offices are situated). The premier had no doubt that with the experience Bhembe possesses, he will be able to deliver as expected in his new assignment.

Bhembe comes to the Private and Cabinet offices with wealth of experience as an economist and in public administration. Because of this experience, Dlamini said Bhembe would add valuable experience to the Offices, as it tries to achieve its goals and the overall Nkwe national vision to create wealth and well-being for the nation.

The new PS has served as PS in the Ministry of Finance and thereafter, in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development. He has also been an Economic Advisor to the United Nations in the Diaspora. Bhembe replaces former PS Bertram Stewart, who has retired. On the same day, Bhembe was appointed with three other PSs who are already serving in three other Ministries.

They included Ministry of Public Service PS Mthunzi Shabangu, who served as Commissioner of Labour at the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Another is Andreas Dlamini, who is the new PS at the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT). He has been serving as the Director of ICT prior to his appointment.

New PS in the Ministry of Education and Training Nanikie Mnisi was also among the PSs that were appointed on the day. She was Under Secretary (US): Administration prior to her appointment to her ministry. She has also been acting as PS in the Ministry.
