Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has launched investigations into two serious criminal incidents reported in the Matsapha and Mbabane areas, reaffirming its commitment to public safety and crime prevention.

In the first incident, Matsapha Police are investigating a robbery that took place on January 3, 2026, in the Dwaleni area. A 47-year-old man was reportedly robbed of property valued at approximately E83 000 while he and his family were peacefully asleep in their home.

Police reports indicate that three unknown armed men, allegedly carrying knives, forcefully entered the house and targeted the bedroom. During the robbery, the suspects stole several valuable items, including a wristwatch, an iPhone, a television set, a Samsung mobile phone, E5 000 in cash, as well as clothing. No arrests have been made so far, and investigations remain ongoing.

In a separate incident, Mbabane Police are investigating a kidnapping case reported at Mnyamatsini, also on January 3, 2026. According to information received, a 42-year-old man was at his residence near the gate when he was approached by four unknown men who forcefully abducted him and drove away.

The victim later told police that during the ordeal he recalls passing through Ludzeludze before the vehicle turned onto a gravel road, suggesting that he was taken to a secluded area. The suspects reportedly assaulted him and coerced him into transferring E15 000 via an e-wallet. After the money was sent, the victim was abandoned in a forested area and left injured.

Despite his injuries, the victim managed to find his way out of the area and hired a taxi to return home, where the matter was subsequently reported to police.

REPS has confirmed that investigations into both cases are progressing and that officers are actively pursuing all leads to identify and arrest those responsible. The police have appealed to members of the public to assist with any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of stolen property.

Anyone with information regarding the Matsapha robbery is urged to contact Manzini RCBO Senior Superintendent Thabo Hlophe on 7606 8570, Matsapha Desk Officer Inspector Langa on 7668 6833, or Matsapha Police Station on 2518 7111. Members of the public may also dial 999, 9999, or 112 for emergencies.

Police have urged communities to remain vigilant and to report suspicious activities promptly as part of collective efforts to combat crime.
