Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sakhile Awuviva Nxumalo, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO)Youth League says the country’s education system is being destroyed by King Mswati who never finished secondary education.
Speaking during a protest in support of Lecturers at the University of eSwatini(UNESWA)on Thursday,the Swaziland Youth Congress(SWAYOCO)President said their struggle was for education.
Lecturers are are engaged in a strike action, they are demanding a salary increament.
“Our fundamental struggle is the struggle for education,we are having a problem of education in eSwatini because the Head of State for this country didn’t finish school,that is King Mswati III and he doesn’t know anything about education and being a student because he was last a pupil.So that is why Government doesn’t care about the issue of education,” he said.
The University of Eswatini (UNESWA)whose Chancellor is King Mswati was forced to close after Lecturers engaged in a protest demanding a salary review.On Thursday,students marched to the University demanding its reopening and the return of their lecturers.
