
Africa-Press – Eswatini. Russian Foreign Minister His Excellency Sergey Lavrov’s meeting with King Mswati’s army authorities was highly censored in eSwatini media, the meeting only appeared on Russian State controlled media.
Minister Lavrov met Mswati’s son Prince Sicalo,the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Defense and Security, Army Commander Lieutenant General Mashikilisane Fakudze, Prime Minister Cleopas Dlamini and other Cabinet Ministers on Tuesday.
But now, it has emerged that some important meetings with the visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were censored on eSwatini media amid political tension.
Political temperatures are escalating in this tiny Kingdom after Mswati’s security forces with the assistance of foreign mercenaries allegedly assassinated human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko.
After the meetings on Tuesday,the office of Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo released an online statement confirming that the Prime Minister and the Russian Foreign Minister discussed areas of mutual cooperation, there’s was no mentioning of the meeting with the army.
“Among other things,the PM and H.E Lavrov discussed current and possible areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries, including in health, education,IT,agriculture and tourism as well as the upcoming Russia-Africa Summit,” reads a Government online report.
