Redi Secures E5 Million Insurance for King V Delegates

Africa-Press – Eswatini. In a move that underscores the importance of corporate governance and risk management, the Royal Eswatini Development Initiative (REDI) has taken out an E5 million insurance cover for delegates attending the much-anticipated King V presentation tomorrow, Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Esangweni, Esibayeni Lodge in Matsapha.

The insurance, provided by Oracle Insure, is designed to ensure the safety and peace of mind of all participants at the high-profile corporate event.

REDI Chief Executive, Dr Sikhomba Gumbi, announced the development, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to prudent risk management. “We are bringing together the top CEOs in the country, together with their boards, into one venue. This is a very significant risk. Should a calamity occur, the impact could be catastrophic, with far-reaching consequences for the local business community,” Dr Gumbi explained.

He added: “Our aim is to provide delegates with confidence and peace of mind. They should attend in their numbers, relax, and focus on the King V presentation and discussions surrounding corporate governance without concern for unforeseen incidents.”

The insurance cover is a public liability policy, which means that REDI is protected against damages arising from any incidents connected to the event. According to REDI, the policy covers a wide range of potential risks, including injuries to delegates, property damage, event-specific incidents, third-party claims, nuisance and interference, as well as legal and defence costs.

Dr Gumbi emphasised that risk management is an essential component of corporate governance. By taking this step, REDI seeks to demonstrate that corporate events, especially those of national significance, should be conducted in a safe and secure environment. “We are grateful to Oracle Group Eswatini for partnering with us to make this event possible. Their support ensures that we can stage a secure and professionally managed gathering,” he said.

The King V presentation represents the latest evolution in corporate governance practices in Eswatini. King V replaces the previous King IV code and serves as a comprehensive guide on leadership, ethics, and best practice for running organisations. It addresses the increasing complexity of corporate operations and the need for transparent, accountable, and sustainable management practices.

Corporate governance experts have welcomed the introduction of King V, noting that it places greater emphasis on risk management, ethical leadership, and stakeholder accountability. The REDI event is expected to bring together business leaders, board members, and policymakers from across the country, providing a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing on these critical issues.

The E5 million insurance cover reinforces the importance of safeguarding participants at high-level corporate events and serves as a benchmark for other organisations seeking to adopt best practices in risk management. REDI has expressed confidence that the measures will allow delegates to focus on the key issues at the King V presentation without distraction.

The organisation looks forward to welcoming all participants to Esangweni in Matsapha, where discussions on corporate governance and the implementation of King V are expected to shape the future of business leadership in Eswatini.
