Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has arrested three suspects from South Africa for stealing copper across various areas in the Shishunyeni region. The stolen items are valued at E22 860.
The suspects, identified as Bongani Moyo, 29, Vusi Moyo, 23, and Innocent Moyo, 23, appeared in the Magistrate Court in Nhlangano, facing 12 charges. These include theft and entering the country without permission.
According to police reports, the suspects committed multiple thefts between July and September 2025:
.Emanyeveni (5 September 2025): 34 metres of copper valued at E2 500.
.Nyalinyali (5 September 2025): 34 metres of copper worth E2 140.
.TebeTebe (3 September 2025): Copper valued at E3,500.
.Mehlabovu (4 September 2025): 10 metres of copper worth E2 140.
.Etitandini (4 September 2025): 20 metres of copper valued at E2 140.
.Ekwendzeni (4 September 2025): 30 metres of copper worth E2 140.
.Hlongwane (23 July 2025): Copper worth E3,000 and a music speaker valued at E1 000.
.Ehlalakahle (4 September 2025): 30 metres of copper worth E2 500.
Additionally, the suspects face three charges under the Immigration Act of 1982 (Act No. 17 of 1982) for illegally entering Eswatini.
The suspects are currently held at Customs and are scheduled for sentencing on 18 September18, 2025.
