Africa-Press – Eswatini. A member of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF)populary known as ‘Fish’ and an employee of the Matsapha Airport known as Nhlanhla are in a critical condition after their Honda Fit allegedly crashed onto a wall at Esibayeni Lodge on Saturday around twelve(12)midnight.

The two were involved in an accident during a dramatic chase with traffic police, eye witnesses confirmed.

The eyewitnesses who were at Esibayeni Lodge further alleged that the police were chasing the car but quickly disappeared upon learning that it had been involved in an accident.

“The car was chased by the police and it came from the Sigodvweni direction. But after being involved in the accident, the police drove back and disappeared. They then re-emerged from the Airport direction pretending to be responding to an accident yet we saw them chasing the car,”said the eyewitness.

It is alleged that one of those who were injured allegedly told rescuers at the accident scene that he was working for the National Achieves.

A questionnaire was sent to Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Eswatini is slowly becoming a police and or military State, security officers are not arrested for killing civilians, either intentionally acting on orders or through negligence.

Dozens of civilians have died after being involved in fatal accidents while being chased by traffic police on suspicion that they were drink and driving suspects.

Reached for comments,Sibongile Mazibuko, the President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC) said police were expected to protect lives and property in their line of duty, however, she noted that members of the law enforcement agency were no longer acting within their mandate.

“You will recall that Thabani Nkomonye died while being chased by the police and it is clear that in this matter,we almost witnessed the same tragedy.Their cover-up tricks seem to be the same, once they realize that a blunder has been committed, they disappear and then pretend to be responding to an accident,”said the NNLC President.
