Africa-Press – Eswatini. Laugh, rhymes and metaphors were the order of the night on Thursday evening.
This was at the hip-hop night and poetry session hosted by the United States Embassy of Eswatini at The Theatre Club.
Guests Konshens The MC and Lindelani Lee stood as the emcees of the night.
From the moment the two artists made their way to the stage, they captured the hearts of the crowd who they connected well with as they preached the saying ‘live, life, love’ to the audience that chanted the words throughout the night.
Their performance was nothing short of amazing as they closed off the evening with several songs that they had they collaborated on.
Their energy was high, their lyrical game was on point and they had the full attention of the audience that clapped, sang along, screamed and danced to their set.
As if that was not enough, Konshens The MC surprised the crowd and called up Qibho Intalektual on stage to perform a musical poem that the two collaborated on, making the one-night musical a memorable one indeed.
Opening the poetry session was Alwande, who performed a poem titled ‘Where is she?’ More local poets followed thereafter.
These included Dede, Simanga Ntsini, Silent Writer, Qibho Intalektual, Dzeli the Poet and more.
The poets touched many souls as attendees admitted that they were moved by all the performances.
There was also the breathtaking performance from PsychoLution.
He started his live performance from his seat amongst the audience, building anticipation amongst others. The crowd went crazy in applaud and cheers after realising who it was.
More hip-hop local artists such as Grixxly, Swiss and Sarnilo followed suit with amazing verses and great wordplay that left the audience stunned.
One of the attendees, Dumo Motsa, said it was amazing how poets had grown. She applauded the US Embassy for bringing the Americans and for organising such a moving hip-hop and poetry night.
Another audience member Gcama Nhlengetfwa said he mostly appreciated the fact that all artists were unique and loved the use of vernacular language.
“The show was great. This was the sign that the power of black talent is there and it just needs to be recognised and celebrated,” he said.
