Role of Youth in Promoting Russia-Africa Ties Through Openness, Cooperation Willingness

Africa-Press – Eswatini. In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the World Youth Festival 2024, highlighted that it is up to the younger generation to create a safe world.

The role of youth in Russia-Africa relations to foster them through openness, willingness to be friends and to collaboration, David Okpatuma, co-founder of The Development and Cooperation for Africa Initiative (The DevCA Initiative), told.

“As young people, we need to build platforms that allow us to collaborate, not just pioneer, and of course, in cases where we have to pioneer or in places we can pioneer, we do it with the right set of skills, mentorship, and support,” he said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2024

Sharing his impressions from the SPIEF2024 sessions he participated in, he pointed out that young people collaborate more and more in innovation, technology, transportation, logistics, and so on.

As for sectors of the Russian economy that are lucrative for attracting young entrepreneurs, the activist noted that young people should explore the Russian financial technology system, telemedicine, and education.

Okpatuma came to the forum as he tried to support Russia’s initiatives “that are relevant towards holistic development, sustainable development, and the multipolar world.”

He also called on those who think Russia is isolated to come to the country and get personal experience on this matter.

“The narration of isolation is a thing of perspective. And of course, everyone will speak based on their experiences, or lack of it. So if something is isolated, if someone is isolated, the only way you can get to tell is basically for you to try to have your own personal experience so you do not have tainted views,” the activist said.

On June 5-8, numerous high-profile officials, businessmen, experts, and activists are taking part at the SPIEF 2024, which is held in the Russia’s city of Saint Petersburg.
