Africa-Press – Eswatini. Angola hosts, from 14 to 16 of this month, the meeting of the Secretariat and Executive Committee (CEOS) of the Forum of Electoral Commissions of the Community of Southern African Countries (SADC), informed this Friday, in Luanbda, the spokesman for the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Lucas Quilundo.

At a press conference for the purpose of the event, the electoral commissioner referred that the forum will contribute to raising the levels of electoral education in the country and promote the exchange of experience on elections in SADC member countries.

“With this forum, Angola gains in terms of projecting its image abroad, exchanging experience with SADC countries, among others”, he said.

He informed that during the event, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zimbabwe and the Kingdom of Eswatini, three countries that will hold elections this year, will make a brief presentation on the preparation of the elections.

The forum was created in 1998 in Cape Town, South Africa, and its secretariat is located in Gaborone, Botswana.

It is a space for consultation between all electoral bodies or commissions of the countries that make up SADC and promotes, among other actions, electoral observation, staff training and exchange of experience among members.

The SADC Electoral Commission Forum comprises 16 electoral bodies from the region, namely Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros Islands, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Eswatini, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
