Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Southern African Development Community(SADC) Chairperson position is now vacant after the ousting of Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina this week amid deadly protests.
Rajoelina fled to Dubai-the United Arab Emirates(UAE) according to The Guardian and was toppled for allegedly failing to provide affordable water and electricity, President Rajoelina left the country through a French military aircraft after Madagascar soldiers declared support for the protesting youth leaving him with no alternative but to resign.
Rajoelina was ousted a few days after taking over as the SADC Chairperson and surprisingly, there was no clear declaration of support from Southern African countries in defense of the ousted President who seized power in 2009 from Marc Ravalomanana, the then Madagascar democratically elected President.
