Africa-Press – Eswatini. Finsure Assurance Limited has officially launched Sambulelo Funeral Cover, a groundbreaking product designed to provide funeral protection to all Emaswati, regardless of their economic or social status.
The launch took place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the rooftop of the Intfutfuko (FINCORP) Building in Mbabane.
Speaking at the event, Finsure Chief Insurance Officer (CIO) Nozipho Dlamini emphasized that the product was built with inclusivity and accessibility at its core.
“Sambulelo Funeral Cover is all about inclusivity and accessibility. Despite the presence of many funeral covers, not all Emaswati are covered. Our product must find its niche by ensuring that everyone, regardless of their economic or social standing, can access funeral cover,” Dlamini said.
She explained that as a subsidiary of FINCORP, Finsure Assurance aligns its efforts with the parent company’s mandate to economically develop Emaswati by providing accessible financial services.
“Our DNA has given us unique insights into the operations and needs of SMEs, sugarcane farmers, and informal sector businesses like hawkers and vendors. Sambulelo Funeral Cover will therefore offer flexibility in terms of cover and payment structures, designed to match the cashflow cycles of these sectors. We are not imposing a product; we are offering a solution that mirrors the heartbeat of these communities,” Dlamini said.
The initial focus for distribution will be on groups of 20 people or more, reflecting the strong sense of community in Eswatini. Dlamini highlighted that community cohesion drives the desire to ensure that all members are supported during times of loss.
“We are here to bring an umbrella that shields you in both times of rain and extreme heat. By focusing on groups, we leverage the cultural affinity of Emaswati, ensuring that no one is left unprotected,” she added.
FINCORP Group Managing Director (GMD) Dumisani Msibi addressed the audience, dispelling long-held myths about funeral cover.
“It is not true that life insurance alone is enough. Life insurance without funeral cover is like a gun without bullets. It might not help immediately when you need it most, but funeral cover acts as that bullet,” Msibi explained.
He also clarified that funeral cover should not be treated as a savings account.
“Yes, it can help when you need it, but it is not a savings account. Its purpose is to provide immediate support to families during times of loss,” he said.
Msibi further debunked the myth that funeral cover is expensive.
“Funeral cover can be made affordable for everyone. Sambulelo Funeral Cover ensures that all Emaswati can access protection without financial strain,” he said.
The launch was attended by executives and board members from FINCORP and Finsure Assurance, along with members of the media. The event highlighted the organization’s commitment to financial inclusion, community-focused services, and practical solutions for everyday needs.
“We congratulate the Finsure team for their dedication in bringing this product from concept to launch. Sambulelo Funeral Cover represents our commitment to empowering Emaswati, ensuring peace of mind during one of life’s most difficult moments,” Msibi concluded.
With this launch, Sambulelo Funeral Cover positions Finsure Assurance as a leader in inclusive, flexible, and accessible funeral solutions, reinforcing its mission to serve all Emaswati and support communities across the nation.
