Africa-Press – Eswatini. Following the massive success of the “Siyabonga Gogo” remix milestone, Umgidvo artist Sancheziey is ready to gift emaSwati a brand-new sound that celebrates life through the lens of Swati culture.
The artist has officially broken the news of his upcoming single, “Khula Ngendlela Yakho,” which is scheduled for release in the final week of February. This announcement comes as a fulfillment of a promise made to fans after his previous remix reached the 100 000-view mark.
“Have you ever imagined a cultural happy birthday song?” Sancheziey asked. “Inspired by happiness in people’s eyes every time it’s their birthday, I thought it would be nice to see how best the Swati way can one celebrate his or her birthday.”
He noted that while birthdays are celebrated daily, the traditional “Happy Birthday” song can often feel out of place. “Everyday is someone’s birthday, and not to sound otherwise but it’s been awkward for every man I’ve seen to sing Happy birthday,” he explained. “This new song is bringing Swati culture in the appreciating of life in Eswatini.”
The track is a Cultural Afro Pop (Umgidvo) song recorded at Emadlelweni Music and personally mixed and mastered by the artist. Sancheziey shared that the song draws heavy inspiration from local heritage, stating, “From the chants, you’d see that I learnt a lot in the Incwala Ceremony and Lusekwane.”
He envisions the track becoming a staple for all ages. “Khula is set to be on everyone’s playlist especially on their birthdays. At the same time it gives an angle of considering the little ones and I’m already seeing emaSwati posting their babies with the song,” he added.
Sancheziey concluded by inviting the nation to embrace this new style of celebration. “I would love to invite emaSwati into the new era of celebrating our friends, ourselves, and families’ birthday the Swati way. I plead them to check it out soon from Friday since the snippet for it will be released on TikTok and other social media platforms for them to use it.”
