Africa-Press – Eswatini. Senate President Lindiwe Gwebu-Dlamini has warmly commended National Commissioner of Police Vusi Manoma Masango for his steadfast leadership in strengthening national safety, noting that policing remains one of the most demanding callings in public service.
She made these remarks on Monday, 8 December 2025 during the presentation of the Police Service Regulations 2025 at Sibane Hotel in Ezulwini, where she praised police officers for their unwavering commitment and dedication to duty, even under challenging working conditions.
The Senate President said the growing visibility of police officers across the country – particularly through roadblocks and routine patrols – was a clear reflection of firm leadership and the Royal Eswatini Police Service’s (REPS) dedication to protecting the public.
“We are truly safeguarded under your wise leadership, NatCom. The increased visibility of police on our roads is highly commendable,” she said, while encouraging officers to continue upholding discipline, professionalism and loyalty to the oath they took to serve the nation.
Her message followed an address by His Excellency the Right Honourable Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini, who reaffirmed the pivotal role of REPS in maintaining law, peace and public safety across the Kingdom. In presenting the revised Police Service Regulations, the Prime Minister echoed His Majesty King Mswati III’s call for a vigilant, disciplined and responsive police service.
He emphasised that protecting citizens and ensuring offenders are brought to justice remains a top national priority, noting that strong regulatory frameworks are key to strengthening the effectiveness of law enforcement.
The Senate President’s praise is further reinforced by the ongoing visibility of police operations across the country, which REPS continues to highlight through its official communication platforms. As the festive season intensifies, police operations have been scaled up to ensure safe travel for all road users.
Officers have been strategically deployed nationwide to conduct roadblocks, patrols and traffic law enforcement aimed at reducing accidents and encouraging responsible driving. These efforts come at a time when road traffic volumes are at their peak due to holiday travel.
In a public message, REPS reminded motorists to carry valid driver’s licences and all required documentation, to exercise patience on the roads and to strictly observe traffic regulations.
“These roadblocks are for your safety,” the police stated, encouraging Emaswati to work hand in hand with law enforcement to ensure safer roads throughout the festive season.
As holiday movement increases across the country, the heightened police presence has been welcomed as both a reassurance and a powerful reminder that public safety is a shared responsibility between law enforcement and the wider community.
