Africa-Press – Eswatini. The 2025 edition of Sibitelo Nemisebe was officially launched at the Manzini Library, marking another milestone in the effort to promote the SiSwati language and strengthen cultural pride among Eswatini’s youth.
The launch, hosted by Imisebe Publishing, brought together educators, learners, and language advocates in a celebration of creativity, identity, and national heritage. The event highlighted the growing impact of the competition in encouraging young people to express themselves confidently in their mother tongue.
Representing the Eswatini SiSwati Teachers Association, President Machawe Dlamini commended the organisers for creating a platform that continues to bring joy and inspiration to learners. He emphasised the significance of such initiatives in deepening language appreciation and called for the programme to be extended to include primary school learners in future editions.
Student voices also echoed the importance of the initiative. The Deputy Head Girl of Mjingo High School expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in SiSwati both through the competition and within their daily school environment. She acknowledged the role of educators in creating spaces where students can speak their language with pride.
The event also received strong endorsement from the Ministry of Education and Training. Celiwe Mohamed, Senior Inspector for SiSwati, praised Imisebe Publishing’s efforts in promoting local language development. She described the initiative as a valuable contribution to the preservation of SiSwati and a meaningful way to support national curriculum goals.
Imisebe Publishing Managing Director, Hlob’sile Stromvig, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to inclusivity. She noted that the 2025 edition of Sibitelo Imisebe is designed to ensure equal representation from all regions, providing more young people the chance to showcase their creativity. Stromvig also welcomed the growing collaboration with partners such as Technosol and UNESCO, whose support strengthens the reach and impact of the initiative.
The successful launch of Sibitelo Nemisebe 2025 reaffirmed Imisebe Publishing’s leadership in preserving linguistic heritage and inspiring a new generation to embrace their culture through storytelling and written expression.
