Africa-Press – Eswatini. SIHLANGU Semnikati head coach Dominic Kunene says striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa deserved to win the 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup golden boot.
This comes after the Mbabane Highlanders’ sharp-shooter finished this year’s edition of the annual regional showpiece on top of the scorers’ charts with three goals, taking home E20 000.
The former Young Buffaloes mentor congratulated the national team talisman for his stellar performance.
“I am happy for him as he is always working hard and serves the country diligently. I believe he can do even better than this as he has all it takes to score more goals in international competitions and this will be a huge motivation in his career,” Kunene said.
Meanwhile, COSAFA’s all-time leading goal-scorer Felix ‘Fela’ Badenhorst also lauded his former Mbabane Swallows’ teammate on his latest achievement.
“I would like to congratulate Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa for winning the top goal scorer award in the tournament and this will also boost his confidence.
“Moreover, I would like to commend the entire team for playing well in the tournament despite not winning the trophy. The squad displayed good football and I believe we are headed in the right direction as a country,” he said.
The nation’s pride’s run at the regional showpiece ended in the quarter-finals following their loss to guests Senegal by 10-9 on penalties before losing out by 2-0 to Botswana during the Plate Cup semi-finals on Friday.
The Dominic Kunene-led side further produced six Man of the Match winners in Sandile ‘Saviola’ Gamedze (twice), Fanelo Order Mamba (twice), as well as with Mzwandile Mabelesa and Sifiso Matse.
