Africa-Press – Eswatini. CAF envoys Green Mamba might be without their experienced striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa for their match against Mozambican side Uniao Desportiva do Songo on Sunday.
The CAF Champions League match will be played at Zimpeto Stadium in Mozambique.
The former Mbabane Highlanders player got injured two months back during the national team’s game against Botswana.
Green Mamba Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mandla Sibiya said it was true that the player was still an nursing injury and might not feature in their upcoming match against the Mozambican team.
“He last trained with the team last Monday where he showed signs of discomfort.
He is still struggling with his injury but the medical team is monitoring his situation. We hope he will recover on time and join the rest of the players before we leave for our CAF assignment,” he said.
Sibiya said this could be a huge blow for the team. “This might affect us because every player has his role in the team. If he does not recover on time, we will do our best without him.”
He said they would not rush the player but allow him to heal.
“Ndzinisa is the only experienced striker, who brings another attacking dimension in the field. We need him for such matches but we do have other good players who can take his position,” Sibiya said.
The CEO said the preparations for the match were going well as they were playing friendly matches to get the team ready, “We are looking forward to the he match where we want to represent the country well.” The Correctional Services side recently signed former Mbabane Highlanders defender Peter Dlamini, who is expected to be part of the squad against Uniao Desportiva do Songo.
