Africa-Press – Eswatini. A December trip to Richard’s Bay is fast becoming a powerful movement for youth empowerment under Siphofaneni Inkhundla, thanks to the vision of Nkhosingiphile “Pilos” Masina, Bucopho for Nceka community.
The trip, set for December 6–7, 2025, has inspired a campaign that fuses education with entertainment, what the organisers proudly call “edutainment.”
Masina said the idea began as a simple outing but quickly grew into something greater.
“Our youth need more than lectures. They need opportunities to bond, learn, and dream beyond the boundaries of their communities,” he said.
With this mindset, he hosted a high-impact event at More and More Lodge, inviting key stakeholders, including representatives from law enforcement and local business leaders.
He wasn’t alone in championing this cause. He was joined by Mkhweli Bucopho Majaha Zwane and Indvuna Yenkhundla Ngcamphalala, who was so impressed by the energy and purpose of the initiative that he pledged E5 000 towards it.
“This is the kind of initiative that deserves our backing. Let’s involve more communities and give our youth something to believe in,” Ngcamphalala said.
What started with one man’s vision has now evolved into a formal youth structure. Masina has since mobilised young leaders from across the Inkhundla to form a working committee.
“I realised this can’t be just about Nceka. We need unity across the board if we’re going to truly empower the youth of Siphofaneni,” he said.
The youth committee is chaired by Seneme Shongwe, who also serves as the official photographer and graphic designer. Speaking on the vision, Shongwe said, “We’re not just organising a trip; we’re building a network of young people who are informed, motivated, and proud of where they come from.” He added that their aim was to “make learning enjoyable and inspiring.”
The committee also includes Vice Chairperson Ngeti Shongwe, Treasurer Bongiwe Simelane, Assistant Treasurer Nelly Sithole, Secretary Bongekile Msibi, and members Fezile Shongwe, Hlengiwe Magagula, Tebesutfu Matsenjwa, Inner Dlamini, Gcinile Dlamini, and Mzamo Ndwandwe.
The upcoming Youth Day celebration, scheduled for August 2, 2025, will act as a curtain-raiser to the December trip.
Themed “Connect and Collaborate,” it will mix fun and facts, addressing critical issues such as skills development, crime prevention, and funding opportunities for young people.
“We want the youth to understand their potential and know where to go when they need help,” added Masina.
The Richard’s Bay trip, costing E1 000, is packed with value. The package includes transport, accommodation, a night tour, food (dinner, breakfast, and lunch), visits to tourist attractions, games, and a full photoshoot experience.
The dress code? On Saturday, it’s black and white T-shirts with shorts or swimwear. Sunday is an all-white affair, because impact needs style too.
A non-refundable deposit of E100 is required by June 30, with the full amount due by November 15, 2025. The trip has already gained traction across neighbouring communities including Mkhweli, Mphumakudze, Maphilingo, Madlenya, Ngeyvini, and Tambuti.
“This is more than a trip. It’s about growth, vision, and showing the youth that they matter,” said Zwane. “And Richard’s Bay is just the beginning.”
