Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sir Teazy is one of the artists who are excited to attend be performing at the Eswatini Theatre Club where they are hosting the Eswatini Business Expo.
Sir Teazy, born Thabiso Hlatshwayo, is a diverse performing artist, producer and songwriter hailing from Manzini where he was raised by a single mother.
When quizzed by the Leisure Desk about being amongst the performing acts at the Expo, Sir Teazy said he was super excited as this was his first time being part of an event of such magnitude. “I think it is an important step that I will be exploring as I am still claiming my space in the music industry. I am mostly looking foward to gaining knowledge I can possibly use to my advantage in future but I most of all I want to have fun,” he said.
The multi-talented artist will tomorrow share the stage with both new and well established artists who include Daniel Dlamini, Eswatini’s golden boy and award-winning artist Sands, Bantu The Tribe, Kabo Leburu, Young Eagle and Tay the Beast.
Sir Teazy did his primary and high school education at St Paul’s Methodist. He started his musical journey in his last year of high school in 2018.
“I was introduced to music by my best friend Sisekelo Shawn who had already been doing good in the Eswatini hip hop scenes.”
He started as a rapper and as time went on and music morphed into something new, he adapted and ventured into other genres like RnB and Afro sounds.
“I then went on to co-found a record label called South Sound Entertainment alongside Sisekelo Shawn and Mlandvo Mkhweli known as Dee Malumz, a fellow artist and producer,” he said.
He added that the stable was still up and running to date and has produced artists like Ntsetse Musician, Tris the Dawg and Sons of Africa ,just to name a few.
Sir Teazy said all artists under the stable were under the close supervision of Dee Malumz and Mshokobezi. He stated that the music he makes is not of local origin, after having worked with a United States of America (USA) based music producer for two years.
“Through him I discovered that my sound is one that should not be slept on,” he said.
In his musical journey he has worked with artists within and outside the country. These are Canny Deep, Thez, Shawn, Laro Tha Bambino and Eucalyptus. While international acts he has worked with are Nexus, Melania, Ephay from South Africa and DJ Skamatic from USA) to name a few.
Sir Teazy has no album under his belt, however, he has released singles that are all available on music platforms.
The songs are ‘Makwa Dali’ featuring Eucalyptus, ‘No Time’, ‘Aweh’ featuring Sisekelo Shawn, ‘Hhay La’ featuring Canny Deep and ‘Gucci Sox’ featuring Dj Skamatic.
He added that he has performed at some of the biggest events in the country such as The Epic Gig episode III, Fall Fest, Lifestyle Experience, DJ Toxik’s VIP birthday experience and at Rowen’s all White birthday party.
Despite that he is an upcoming artist, Sir Teazy has shared the stage and opened up for big artists like Aubrey Qwana, Kwesta, Blxckie, Blaq Diamond, Felo le Tee, Toss and Costa Titch, to name just a few.
“As an artist in the country, I aspire to change how most people perceive the local music scene and actually take it to greater heights,” he said.
He further stated that he aspired to leave a legacy that the upcoming generation would emulate. He added that he had doubts with his music career reaching the heights he wanted in the country due to the standards but aims to infiltrate the South African industry to prove that Eswatini artists have what it takes.
“An established artist that inspires me right now is Blxckie, I can relate to a lot of his music and I feel it is the level I am also gunning to reach,” he said.
The rapper currently works under the stable Toxik Entertainment owned by Thami Dlamini, also known as DJ Toxik. His debut ‘The Domino Effect’ album is work in progress and would be released in 2023.
