Africa-Press – Eswatini. This month, soccer is stepping off the sidelines to play a new role in the fight against prostate cancer. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Ezulwini Sun Sports Grounds will host the Instacash Social Soccer Tournament, a community-driven initiative blending sport and health awareness.
Far more than just a day of friendly competition, the tournament is designed to spark vital conversations about men’s health. With support from Joma, OneAura Wellness Center, and eBet, the event aims to leverage the popularity of soccer to break down stigma and encourage men to take proactive steps toward early detection of prostate cancer.
The 12 invited teams set to compete are: Mbabane Real, Royal Eswatini Sugar, Fairview, Ubombo Sugar, Me & U Rebels, Good Shepherd, Lozitha, Montigny, Shali Masters, Kwaluseni Rebels, USDE Mlindazwe, and Ezulwini Sun. They will be drawn into group stages, with the top teams advancing to the winners’ final on the same day. Fans can expect a day filled with goals, rivalries, and community spirit.
For Instacash Managing Director Mandla ‘Cheeks’ Nxumalo, the cause is deeply personal. “We’ve seen too many fathers, uncles, brothers, and friends suffer without speaking up. Prostate cancer can be treated effectively if caught early, but stigma around men’s health often keeps people from seeking help. We wanted to create an event that reaches men in a setting they enjoy the soccer field,” Nxumalo explained.
In addition to the matches, participating teams will engage in expert-led health education sessions. Professionals from OneAura Wellness Center and oncology specialists will brief athletes on risk factors, screening processes, and the importance of early detection. Players will also have an opportunity to ask questions in a private and respectful environment.
Organizers believe the tournament will spark a ripple effect beyond the final whistle. “Our goal is to raise awareness and encourage screenings, especially for men over 40 and those with a family history,” Nxumalo noted. “We hope this event helps normalize conversations about prostate health, ultimately saving lives.”
With competitive soccer, community camaraderie, and life-saving education on the agenda, the Instacash Social Soccer Tournament 2025 promises to be more than a sporting event—it is a bold step toward changing cultural attitudes about men’s health in Eswatini.
