Africa-Press – Eswatini. Members of the pro-democracy Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) opened fire at Mswati’s soldiers next to Masundvwini Palace on Friday evening as part their ongoing operation to hold members of the security forces accountable for the killing of civilians.
On Friday, the Spokesperson of the Solidarity Forces confirmed the shooting adding that one of the army vehicles was damaged.
“They targeted two cars, one was shot next to Masudvwini Palace where the members of the Solidarity Forces had camped waiting for the army vehicles to pass through. One bullet was fired at the car. The second one was shot at Mathangeni, only the driver was shot, two bullets were fired. We are still verifying if there would be deaths and will communicate accordingly,” said the Spokesperson of the Solidarity Forces.
A questionnaire was sent to Army Spokesperson Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Wandile Dlamini, a resident of kaShali next to Masudvwini Palace told this publication that he received a call from a relative around 9pm on Friday saying her Uncle has been shot.
“I have just received a call from a relative saying her Uncle who is a soldier has been shot. But he was not shot in the house, he was shot at Mathangeni just now,” he said.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after King Mswati unleashed his soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
The pro-democracy Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) vowed to intensify underground operations targeting those who kill civilians.
