Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Eswatini Sports and Recreation Council (ESRC) has commended the International Cricket Council (ICC) for selecting Eswatini as the host for the ICC Level I Coach Tutors Course.
This prestigious three-day event, currently underway at Bethel Courts Vineyard Hotel in Ezulwini, has brought together around 15 coaches from Eswatini, Lesotho, and Mozambique. The course was officially inaugurated by ESRC Business Development Manager Zama Tsabedze.
Master Educators Anthonie Ferreira and Chris Cardoso, who arrived on Wednesday, are facilitating the training sessions. In his opening remarks, Tsabedze extended a warm welcome to the facilitators and participants, highlighting the significance of hosting this course in Southern Africa. He also acknowledged the ICC’s role in fostering the development of cricket in the region.
The Eswatini Cricket Association (ECA) expressed their delight at the successful launch of the program. In a statement, they noted that the course aims to enhance coaching standards and contribute to the growth of cricket across the participating nations.
ECA President Saif Ullah emphasized the importance of the initiative in nurturing local talent and strengthening cricket development in the region. The course has garnered strong support from ECA Board members, including Vice President Imam Jafor, Development Director Sibongiseni Dlamini, and Mbali Dlamini, all of whom are optimistic about its impact.
As the training unfolds, the ECA anticipates equipping coaches with critical skills and knowledge, laying a solid foundation for the sport’s advancement in Eswatini and beyond.
