SPOTTED HORSE RUM TAKES FLIGHT WITH IN-STORE ACTIVATIONS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Shoppers at Pick n Pay Malkerns Square got the first sip of Spotted Horse Gold Rum as Simunye Beverages kicked off its much-anticipated nationwide in-store activations.

From 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the aisles turned into a mini festival of flavour, with rum tastings, giveaways, and engaging brand activations that had customers lining up to discover the premium spirit.

Produced by Simunye Beverages, a subsidiary of the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES), Spotted Horse has been making waves since its official launch last month at Dwaleni Farm Lodge.

Speaking at the activation, a Simunye Beverages spokesperson said the in-store campaign was about taking the brand directly to the people.

“Today marks the start of an exciting journey where we showcase Eswatini’s craftsmanship and ambition to compete globally while also supporting the local economy,” the spokesperson said.

Though positioned as an export brand, Spotted Horse is rolling out locally first, allowing emaSwati to savour it ahead of international markets. Industry observers have praised this as a bold move that not only highlights local innovation but also boosts national pride.

The brand forms part of RES’s diversification strategy, which aims to widen revenue streams beyond sugar.

With over 5 000 employees, RES remains the country’s largest private-sector employer, and its expansion into beverages signals new opportunities for jobs, trade, and Eswatini’s footprint in the global drinks market.

Yesterday’s launch may have been a first sip, but the bottle is far from empty. Spotted Horse will continue its roadshow with back-to-back activations this weekend, at Pick n Pay Hub in Manzini today (20 September) and at Pick n Pay Malkerns Square tomorrow.

More stops are scheduled across the country in the coming weeks, from Matsapha to Mbabane, Nhlangano to Ezulwini.
