Africa-Press – Eswatini. Sanele Sihlongonyane,a member of the Swaziland Democratic Party(SWADEPA) has been honoured with ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) for popularizing the Swaziland News on social media since it’s establishment.

Announcing the reward, editor Zweli Martin Dlamini said he had never met Sihlongonyane personally but noticed his contribution in ensuring that members of the public had access to information.

“When this publication was established people were supporting the King and Sihlongonyane used to share our stories on various platforms without expecting anything in return.People were insulting him for sharing our stories on those platforms, because at the time, some Swazis were defending the King. Now, that people are aware of what is happening in their country, we believe we must honour people like Sihlongonyane with this surprise gift,” said the editor.

The editor said one day he asked Sihlongonyane why he was interested in sharing Swaziland News stories and the SWADEPA responded by saying “Swazis were being deprived access to information so that they can remain oppressed”.
